AAPG Southwest Young Professionals

The mission of the AAPG Young Professionals is to:

  • Foster a challenging and successful career in the energy industry for recent college/university graduates and early career earth scientists.
  • Build an understanding of the value of a lasting relationship between AAPG and young professional members.
  • Encourage earth scientists to progress from Student to Associate to Member.

The responsibilities of AAPG Southwest Young Professionals are to provide a series of unique services to AAPG young professional members, to retain and increase our current young professional membership, and to promote interaction and communication between AAPG student and young professional members.


Member Societies




The American Association of Petroleum Geologists is made up of more than 30,000 members throughout the world. It is headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The AAPG's primary focus is to disseminate geoscience to the petroleum geology industry and community. There are many local societies that have affiliated with the AAPG, eight of which are located in the Southwest Section. Learn more about AAPG.
